During the free trial you can try every content type and feature for 14 days: single photos, photo albums with up to 10 photos, text messages, voice and video messages of up to 60 seconds, plus scheduled messages, the photo slideshow and family reminders. It includes 5 family members, 1 cared-for person and 250 MB of storage. Add-ons are not available during the trial. The trial cannot be activated yet.

No. The free trial does not require a payment method, and it never turns into a paid subscription automatically.

Afterwards you choose one of the four plans to keep sharing new content. Without a plan, no new content can be created, no media uploaded and no relatives invited. Scheduled messages that would be due after the trial are not published automatically. Nothing is ever charged without your explicit consent.

Yes. You can register for free and create your own family space on the "BeiDir Free" plan – for one cared-for person and up to five family members, at no cost and without payment details. Scheduled messages, the photo slideshow and family reminders are not included. The free trial and the plans Familie S to Familie XL cannot be booked yet; once they can, you only switch with your explicit consent.

Existing content is not deleted automatically, neither after the trial nor when you change plans. Photo albums, voice and video messages from the trial remain even on a smaller plan. How long content stays accessible without a booked plan will be defined before bookings open.

Family members are the people who join your family space with their own account and share photos, messages and memories – for example children, grandchildren or close friends. Family admins count too. Someone who belongs to several family spaces of the same subscription is counted only once. Relatives who only appear as a profile in the family tree without their own account do not count.

A cared-for person is the relative your family sets up BeiDir for. They get an especially simple view, for example on a tablet, and are not counted as a family member. Familie S and Familie M include 1 cared-for person, Familie L and Familie XL 2 cared-for persons each – every one with their own private family space. Further cared-for persons cost €2.99 per month each and also get their own separately protected family space. There is no extra fee for a cared-for person's tablet.

Not necessarily. Familie L and Familie XL already include 2 cared-for persons. On Familie S and Familie M you simply add the second cared-for person. Example: two parents and 3 relatives book Familie M for €9.90 plus one extra cared-for person for €2.99 – €12.89 per month in total. Your plan's storage applies to the whole subscription; extra cared-for persons do not add storage.

Photo albums are available from Familie M (up to 25 photos per album). Familie L allows 50 and Familie XL 100 photos per album. The free trial allows albums with up to 10 photos. On Familie S you share single photos.

Voice messages are available from Familie M (up to 30 seconds), and from Familie L up to 60 seconds. Familie XL is planned to allow up to 180 seconds in future; until that is technically released, 60 seconds apply. The free trial allows up to 60 seconds.

Scheduled messages are available from Familie L and in the free trial; Familie S and Familie M do not include them. When creating a message you choose "schedule for later" and a time at least 15 minutes ahead (German time). Every content type of your plan can be scheduled. Until the chosen time the cared-for person sees nothing of it – no preview and no notice. You can change the time, send the message right away or withdraw it. During the free trial the time must fall before the trial ends. After switching to a plan without scheduled messages, nothing is published automatically any more.

The photo slideshow is available from Familie L and in the free trial; Familie S and Familie M do not include it. The tablet then shows published family photos one after another in full screen – via the "Diashow" button or, if you wish, automatically when the tablet has not been used for a while. Family admins choose which albums or photos are shown (optionally only those marked with a heart), in which order and how long each photo stays on screen. The slideshow is off at first, plays no music and marks nothing as seen. After switching to a plan without the slideshow, your settings are kept.

Family reminders are available from Familie M and in the free trial; Familie S does not include them. They include the shared family calendar with birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations, reminders 1, 3 or 7 days before a date and, if you wish, a gentle prompt to share something with the cared-for person again (at most twice a month). All reminders are off by default, appear in the family portal and never between 8 pm and 8 am. Every family member configures their own reminders; the cared-for person never receives any. With "show on the tablet" individual dates can appear on the tablet on the day itself and during the 7 days before.

Storage covers photos and photo albums, voice and video messages, spoken replies and profile pictures. Text messages use hardly any storage. Under "Usage" in the administration area, family admins see how much storage each content type uses and how much content was sent and received. A notice appears there from 80 per cent of the included storage – or when it would be full in less than 30 days at the current pace.

Yes, on every paid plan: extra family member €0.99, extra cared-for person with their own family space €2.99, +1 GB storage €0.99 and +5 GB storage €3.49 per month. Add-ons never unlock additional content types or features – with Familie S, for example, you keep single photos and text messages.

No. There is no monthly maximum for photos, text, voice or video messages, and no limit on the number of photo albums. The only limits are total storage, the content types of your plan, file size, the length of voice and video messages and the photos per album.

Changing plans is planned. The limits of the new plan then apply to new content and uploads. Content you have already saved is neither deleted nor made inaccessible. Features the new plan does not include – such as the slideshow, scheduled messages or reminders – are paused; your settings are kept and can be reactivated after switching back.

The exact cancellation and retention rules will be defined and published here before bookings open. Until then, the paid plans cannot be booked.

A one-time extra service: we set up BeiDir together with you by phone or video call – Setup Basic (up to 30 minutes) for €29.90, Setup Plus (up to 60 minutes) for €49.90, each one-time incl. VAT. It is independent of your monthly plan and does not change your subscription. Familie XL already includes Setup Plus. During the free trial and on the free plan you can send a non-binding request. A requested time only becomes a fixed appointment once we confirm it, and nothing is charged while payment is not available. We will never ask for passwords or security codes, and we do not see your family content.
